Using MINDA, you can assign a new EID to an animal when an animal has either lost their EID or has never had an EID. When assigning an EID you'll need to know:

  • Date the EID was given

  • Animal ID

  • New EID number

  • Reason for replacement

  • NAIT location (if applicable)

How do I record an Assign EID Event?

Select Event Recorder from the dashboard and then select Assign EID from the list of available Events. Next go through the steps on screen.

Step 1. Select date

Select the date the EID was given to the animal. If the date was earlier, click Earlier then use the calendar to select the right date.

Step 2. Choose your animal(s)

Select the animals that were given a new EID. If the animals are in a specific Group, you can change the Group to show only those animals otherwise, you can search for the animal if you know their ID.

Once you've selected the animals, they'll be moved to the right hand side as shown above. If you need to remove any animals, use the x.

Step 3. Assign the EID

Select the new EID that was given the animal(s). For example, for cow number 13, you'll need to find the new EID that she was given by going through the list of available EID's. If you know the EID, you can search for it using the search bar.

Note: The list of available EID's pull through from your Tag Bucket. If you don't see your EID, you can type it into the search bar and click Add this EID.

To match the EID with an animal, first click on the animal receiving the new EID then select the EID she was given. When the EID has been matched with the animal, you'll see the new EID as shown below. If you've matched the wrong EID, click Untag to remove it.

Note: If you see the message "This animal already has an EID which will be replaced" it just means the new EID being assigned is replacing an already recorded EID and you can continue by clicking Next.

Step 3. Select the reason for replacement

Choose the reason you're giving the animal a new EID.

Step 3. NAIT Location (if applicable)

If you've opted in for LIC to be your NAIT information provider, you'll need to choose the NAIT location EID was assigned at.

Note: If the NAIT location the EID was assigned at isn't in this list, you can add it from this screen. Just add the NAIT number and Name then use the + button to save.

Step 4. Review and finish

Review the details you've entered. If you need to edit anything, click Change or use the Back button otherwise click Finish.

Note: If you've opted in for LIC to be your NAIT information provider, you'll see a message letting you know that NAIT will be updated.

The Event should now show in the Holding Pen where you can approve it.
