Adding Events
Depending on your preferences, you can record Events from within the Holding Pen, add multiple events using Bulk Entry or Import Events.
When entering Events, you should have the following information handy:
Date of the Event
Details of the animal(s)
NAIT details (if the Event is updating NAIT)
Details related to the Event i.e. fate of calf (if recording a Calving Event).
Holding Pen
In the Holding Pen, you're able to add events as well as manage them. On the left you'll see a list of all the Events you're able to record. Select the Event that you'd like to record then follow the on screen instructions.
Note: NAIT options will only show if you have connected your MINDA & NAIT accounts.
Bulk Entry
The Bulk Entry tool allows you to enter multiple Events instead of having to add them 1 by 1. From within the Holding Pen, click the Bulk Entry tab and select the Event you'd like to add. Enter the Event details and then click Add Event.
Tip: Use the Tab key on your keyboard to jump between boxes.
Approving/Deleting
Once you've added your Events, you can approve or delete them (similar to the Holding Pen).
Ditto
If you're adding events that have similar dates etc you can use the Ditto feature. When turned on, Ditto will remember what you added and save that i.e. it'll remember the date you added in the last Event meaning that you don't have to re-enter everything each time.
Note: To see what information Ditto will remember, look for the blue speech marks near the boxes. For an overview of keyboard shortcuts, press Ctrl+/ on the Bulk Entry screen.
Importing
The Import tool is found within the Holding Pen and allows you to import Events using a .CSV or .TXT file. There are 4 Events which you can import including:
Body Condition Score (BCS)
Liveweight (LW)
Pregnancy Diagnosis (PD)
Tag Animals
What do I need to include in my import file?
When creating your import file, you'll need the Animal ID, Date and Event information i.e. BCS, LW, PD Status and new tag number. When recording Pregnancy Diagnoses, you can record a few more optional details including:
Number of calves
Pregnancy age
PD unit (days or weeks)
Assessor (PTPT code of accessor)
Important:
Pregnancy Status must be Pregnant, Doubtful or Empty.
Animal ID must be Cow number, BID or EID (If using EID make sure there is a space after the first 3 numbers i.e. 123 456789012345).
Date must be formatted DD/MM/YYYY or DD/MM/YY using either a "/" or "."
How to Import Events
Head into the Holding Pen and click Import.
Select the Event, your import file and on the following page, map the file headers to the columns in your import file.
Important: If your import file has a header row, tick the checkbox to confirm.
MINDA then checks your import file and if there are any issues, rows with invalid information will be highlighted. Depending on the number of invalid rows, you can either:
Fix them from within the Import tool
Download the invalid rows file at the end
Tip: To fix invalid rows, type into the boxes and add the correct information.
Lastly confirm details and once you've finished, your Events will be in the Holding Pen waiting to be approved.
