What is the Weight ranges graph?

Looking at past weighings, this graph highlights trends over time and shows the proportion of animals that are on track to meeting their targets and those who are not. There are 3 categories animals can fall in:

  1. Above target

  2. Ideal

  3. Underweight

Each category is represented by a colour and if more than 10% of animals in the selected weighing are underweight, they will be highlighted in red.

How do I read the Weight ranges graph?

The Weight ranges graph shows the weight range percentage on the left and the weighings along the bottom. Each bar represents a weighing and your selected weighing is shown on the right. Each colour represents a different weight range meaning you can easily see the portion of animals in each category and any trends over time. To see a detailed breakdown of animals in each category, see the table below the graph.

Weight ranges breakdown

  1. The weigh name and date of weighing

  2. Each bar represents a weighing and adds animals into 3 categories (Above target, Ideal & Underweight). Ideal targets are calculated using the animals Liveweight BV and animals within 5% of their ideal weight will show in the Ideal category.

  3. If more than 10% of animals at the weighing are underweight, the bar will have a red outline and a message under the graph.

  4. The table shows how many animals are in the different categories along with the percentage breakdown.

  5. If more than 10% of animals at the weighing are underweight, those animals will be highlighted red in the table.

How do I change the weighing information I'm looking at?

Using the filters on the top left you can update the weighing by choosing:

  • Age Group (Autumn or Spring born animals)

  • Weighing date

  • Breed

Note: As you change the filters, the graph will update all the weighings to include the same animals as the weighing you're viewing. This gives you a like for like comparison.

Things to keep in mind

  • Only female animals are shown in the Weight ranges graph. Male animals are excluded.

  • If you've purchased animals into your herd, any liveweights they had recorded in the previous herd will not show on the Young stock trend graph.

  • Because all animals in the weighing have the same target mating date, they are given the same birth date. This means younger animals will need to work harder to reach their target weight compared to older animals.
