Using MINDA, you can assign a tag number to animals when an animal has either lost their original tag or has never had one. When assigning a tag, you'll need to know:

  • Date the tag was given

  • Animal ID

  • New tag number

How do I record a Tag Animals Event?

Select Event Recorder from the dashboard and then select Tag Animals from the list of available Events. Next go through the steps on screen.

Step 1. Select date

Select the date the tag was given to the animal. If the date was earlier, click Earlier then use the calendar to select the right date.

Step 2. Choose your animal(s)

Select the animals that were given a new tag. If the animals are in a specific Group, you can change the Group to show only those animals otherwise, you can search for the animal if you know their ID.

Once you've selected the animals, they'll be moved to the right hand side as shown above. If you need to remove any animals, use the x.

Step 3. Match animals with tag numbers

Select the new tag number you've given the animal(s). For example, for cow ABCD-23-9 (previously 13), you'll need to find the new tag number that she was given. You can do this by:

  • Going through the list of available tag numbers

  • Using the search bar

  • Adjusting the tag range shown using the Change Tag Range button

To match the tag number with an animal, first click on the animal receiving the new tag number then select the number she was given. When the tag has been matched with the animal, you'll see the new tag number as shown below. If you've matched the wrong tag number, click Untag to remove it.

Step 4. Review and finish

Review the details you've entered. If you need to edit anything, click Change or use the Back button otherwise click Finish.

The Event should now show in the Holding Pen where you can approve it.
