How to record an Embryo Transfer Event

Learn how to record an Embryo Transfer in MINDA

Using MINDA, you can record your Embryo Transfer Certificates for your animals. When recording an Embryo Transfer Events in MINDA, you'll need to know:

  • Embryo process

  • Date of ET

  • Recipient dam(s)

  • Donor dam & sire

  • Tech PTPT code (if known)


How do I record an Embryo Transfer Event?

Select Event Recorder from the dashboard and then select Embryo Transfer from the list of available Events. Next go through the steps on screen.

Step 1. Select the embryo process

Select the embryo process used.

Step 2. Select dates

Select the following dates:

Embryo Transfer

  • Insemination date - When the donor dam's eggs are fertilised by the sires sperm (essentially the mating date).

  • Embryo recovery date - When the fertilised embryos were recovered from the donor dam.

  • Implantation - When the fertilised embryo was implanted into the recipient cow.

In-Vitro (IVF)

  • IVF date - When the donor dam's eggs are fertilised by the sires sperm in the lab (essentially the mating date).

  • Recovery date - When the embryos come out of their culture.

  • Implantation date - When the fertilised embryo was implanted into the recipient cow.

Step 3. Select the recipient dam(s)

Select the recipient dams. If the animals are in a specific Group, you can change the Group to show only those animals otherwise, you can search for the animal if you know their ID.

Once you've selected the animals, they'll be moved to the right hand side as shown above. If you need to remove any animals, use the x.

Step 4. Enter donor dam details

Select the details of the donor dam. If the dam is in the herd select Dam is currently in the herd and search for her tag number or BID. If the dam isn't in the herd, select Dam not in the herd and manually add her ID.

Step 5. Enter sire details

Using the options below, enter in the sire details. You can enter either the Sire Code, BID or Overseas Animal ID.

Step 6. Enter technician details

Enter the technician's PTPT code (if known) otherwise click Next to skip.

Step 7. Review and finish

Review the details you've entered. If you need to edit anything, click Change or use the Back button otherwise click Finish.

The Event should now show in the Holding Pen where you can approve it.
