What is a PYO Group?

Pick Your Own Groups are where you select animals yourself and add them to a Group. This is a great way to create a Group if you already have a list of animals or know which animals you want in a Group. You can select any animals from within in your herd and add attributes or filters to see more detail about them.

How do I create a PYO Group?

Head into Herd Management > Groups and create a PYO Group using the Add a Group button. Select Pick Your Own and go through the different screens and enter:

  1. Group name

  2. Which Group your new Group will be based off

  3. Attributes you want to see in the Group

Once you're in the Group, select the animals you want in your PYO Group or add them by typing in their ID. You also can create PYO Groups by importing a file of animal ID's, copying an existing Group, and using reports. To read more about these options, check out our article Creating Groups.

How do I only see animals I've added to my PYO Group?

When you first create a PYO Group, you'll see every animal (including animals you haven't added) so that you can go through and select animals to add to your Group. Once you're happy with your Group, click Only show selected animals to only show animals you've added to your PYO Group.

How do I add Attributes or Filters to my PYO Group?

Once you've created your PYO Group, you can add more Attributes and filters using the Add an Attribute button. Scroll through and select the Attributes you'd like to see or type the name if you have specific attributes to add.

Using these attributes you can then filter your animals. Click on on the 3 lines near the Attribute name then choose Filter. Update the filters with what you want to show i.e. in the example above, you can click on the filter to show animals within a specific age range or type in the min and max ages.

What can I do with a PYO Group?

Once you're happy with your PYO Group you can export, print a Group Checklist use it to add Events, Draft animals, create reports etc. Check out our articles Utilising Groups & Getting to know Groups which covers everything you can do with Groups.
