What is the Holding Pen?

When Events are recorded, they go through a number of checks to ensure what you've entered i.e. date, animal number etc doesn't conflict with anything else in MINDA. Once the Events have been processed, they'll show in the Holding Pen waiting for approval. If the checks do pick up something, you might receive a warning or error in the Holding Pen. which you may need to action.

Note: The Holding Pen displays 2,000 unsent events at a time. If you have more than 2,000 Events, the remaining will show once others are approved/deleted.

Approving/Deleting Events

To approve Events, select the Events in the Holding Pen (using the checkbox) and click Approve Events.

If you've entered an event by accident, you can delete it by following the same steps as above but click Delete Events.

Tip: If you deleted an Event by accident, you can reinstate it from Recent Activity.

Warnings & Errors in the Holding Pen

Once the Events have gone through the relevant checks, they'll show in the Holding Pen. If there are any issues, the Events will be highlighted in different colours as shown below.

Error (Red)

An error means there is an issue with the the Event which is stopping it from being approved. With an errored Event, you'll need to fix the issue described in red before trying to approve.

Warning (Orange)

A warning means that something in the Event has been picked up by our background checks which you may need to look into. Warnings do not stop events from being approved.

Ready for approval (Blue)

Events which are blue are ready for approval and there is nothing you need to change or update.

Editing Events

If you have an Event which needs updating, you can edit it from within the Holding Pen. Click Edit and follow the steps on screen.

Filtering/Sorting

In the Holding Pen, you can sort and filter Events by clicking on the boxes below.

Filtering

  • All animals - cow number (including BID & EID)

  • Source - users/sheds

  • Date - date of the event

  • Event - type of events i.e. calving, name etc

Sorting

  • Default - i.e. Animal identifier, date, event type & errored events

  • Ascending/descending - smallest to largest or largest to smallest.

Processing Events

During peak times of the season i.e. calving, a lot of Events are being added in MINDA and you may see Processing on events you've approved.

This just means the Event is still processing in the background and may need a bit of time to update. If you have an event which is processing, refresh and page to see if that updates it.

Tip: If you notice events stuck in process longer than usual i.e. half an hour, give the LIC Customer Experience Centre a call.
